Serious side effects of Sunosi

Along with its needed effects, solriamfetol (the active ingredient contained in Sunosi) may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

General

The more commonly reported adverse reactions have included headache, nausea, decreased appetite, insomnia, and anxiety.[Ref]

Cardiovascular

Common (1% to 10%): Palpitations, chest discomfort/pain

Frequency not reported: Increased blood pressure and heart rate

Increased systolic and diastolic blood pressure and heart rate occurred in a dose-dependent manner during clinical trials.

Psychiatric

Common (1% to 10%): Insomnia, anxiety (includes nervousness and panic attacks), irritability, jittery

Frequency not reported: Agitation, restlessness

Anxiety was more commonly reported at higher doses. Agitation and restlessness were reported in less than 2% of patients.

Gastrointestinal

Common (1% to 10%): Nausea (includes nausea and vomiting), dry mouth, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain

Frequency not reported: Bruxism, thirst

Nausea, including vomiting, dry mouth, and vomiting were more common at higher doses. Bruxism and thirst were reported in less than 2% of patients.

Metabolic

Common (1% to 10%): Decreased appetite

Frequency not reported: Decreased weight

Decreased appetite was more common at higher doses. Decreased weight was reported in less than 2% of patients.

Respiratory

Frequency not reported: Cough, dyspnea

Cough and dyspnea were reported in less than 2% of patients.

Nervous system

Very common (10% or more): Headache (16%)

Common (1% to 10%): Dizziness

Frequency not reported: Disturbances in attention, tremor

Headache was more common with higher doses. Disturbances in attention and tremor were reported in less than 2% of patients.

Dermatologic

Common (1% to 10%): Hyperhidrosis
